About this event

Students will showcase six traditional Mexican folklore dances that carry decades of practice and centuries' worth of history, along with a storyline that intertwines with the regional dances. This year's show will follow the beautiful bond between two siblings, Sol and Valentin, which transcends physical distance. Sol, in her final year at UCSC, reflects on her hardships and personal growth which becomes a source of inspiration for Valentin when deciding which college to attend the following year. Through this story of sibling love, we share a lesson that will resonate with our Mejicas members and audience that distance can't diminish the love and support of family.
